Today is the first day of the rest of my life

Today I retired from my job at Lockheed Martin after 26 years!. They have let me be a software coder, systems engineer, a database designer and User Interface Designer. Life has dealt me all spades. I am the luckiest person on the planet. I have had friends here that have worked alongside me for two decades. They are the finest friends I could have. I had my retirement luncheon yesterday. There were 40 people, the max that the restaurant I chose could accommodate. I guess there could have been more. People came from 30 miles away and returned from retirement to see me. There was a woman there, who had me as their first manager. The one who planned the lunch for me, I hired her daughter to work for me. It was a wonderful lunch. Both of my sons, one daughter in law, and my husband attended too.
It was awesome. Today I could have left at 10:30 but I'm still here at 12:00 since people keep stopping by to say goodbye. It is a bittersweet day but definitely the first day of my next threshold.
