Half Marathon Goal

SparkPeople has inspired me to train for a half marathon on the Olympic Peninsula where I live! The North Olympic Discovery Marathon is scheduled for June 2-3, 2018 and has options to enter for marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, etc. I'm going to give myself a year to train with the goal to enter next year. I have an initial plan to double my current distance of 2.5 miles to 5 miles. I'll accomplish this by simply running my usual route twice. My dog running buddy, Kevin, can take a nap in the car while I run the route the second time. After 5 miles feels under control then I'm going to run a longer route between Quilcene and Chimacum on Center Road. I'm really excited about this and will be doing research online about training approaches so that I am ready to go for the approx. 13 miles half marathon in June 2019.
