I retired on 1/31 and 3 days later we went on an awesome cruise to celebrate. It was with Celebrity Cruiselines and it was called The Exotic Southern Caribbean Cruise. This was our itinerary
Miami, St Maarten, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, and Aruba, then back to Miami. Here is our beautiful ship
Miami was beautiful and we had great weather for the whole trip.
Our ship was beautiful inside and out
It had a deck of living grass
And a beautiful piazza that spanned eight floors
Here we are looking across to the library and card room through the living tree that was suspended in the middle.
We saw gorgeous scenery
and heard steel drums at almost every port
And did some shopping
We went to a banana plantation
and saw some local wild life
Went to an Aloe Vera factory and learned all about how most Aloe Vera is artificial now and this is the only functioning farm left.
We went on a cave tour that was so much better than any cave tour we saw in the USA
and I got to sit in a huge Adirondack chair in Aruba
We went on a bunch of history tours. and heard depressing stuff about the slave trade in the area and also unfortunately saw some hurricane damage
Even the days onboard the ship with no ports were fabulous
Our cabin steward was very creative with our towels
Celebrity has a contract with Corning Glass blowers
There was a show on each sea day
We celebrated Valentine's day on board
and every woman got a long stem rose at dinner
It was a wonderful trip and a perfect celebration for retirement
