Just for fun

Sunday, March 11, 2018

Time change..hmmm, I have an extra hour this morning, so thought I'd stop by and give an update on the fun stuff of life.

I'm trying to put money aside each month towards the cruise next Feb. It can be challenging.

We plan to drive down to Galveston the day before and stay the night in a hotel which allows you to park for the duration of your cruise. I had a hard time figuring out which hotels allow this, have shuttle transportation to/from the port, and don't cost too much. My travel agent recommended Expedia since she would have to charge an extra fee for her to book it for me. When I looked at it, there was a banner across the page that said Galveston was 95% booked for the weekend I needed! Almost a year in advance! My first choice of hotel was the Tremont, but they don't have cruise parking at their site, you have to drive your car over to their sister hotel and park there. Nope, not gonna work. My second choice was Moody Gardens. A resort hotel. (Both are 4 star and I've only stayed in one 4 star hotel before in my life.) There was actually a good price on Moody Gardens, but I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money just then. Because....

This month I had to put two new tires on my car. Thankfully, my brother pointed out a place where the people are honest, do good work and put two good quality used tires on my car for $70. My roommate needed two new tires also, so the following week we took her car in. When they took off the old tires they showed us that the tie rods were not working. Total? $370. Neither I nor my roommate had that money. I called my brother and asked for a loan. No problem, he came right over.

The fun part? When I gave my brother a check to pay him back, he gave it right back to me and said "keep it". Praise God! I booked the hotel!!!

I'm at 44lbs lost since I started this recent weight loss journey. I would like to drop another 25-35lbs.

I like Galveston. Been there many times after my old apartment-mate moved to Houston. (She's now in Arizona).
How sweet of your brother to help, and thoughtful to give the money back. Thank God for brothers.
You are doing well of your weight loss journey. I am amazed (and a tiny bit envious) of your progress over the last few years. You go, girl!
