So my 5 week old nephew has been in hospital for 4 days so far, he's had to endure needles in his brain, a respirator (after he stopped breathing for himself), feeding tubes and I.V'S. he's also had a lumbar puncture and is presently nil by mouth. I spent most of today with him and it has been awful to sit by and watch! When he finally falls asleep he accidentally pulls at one of the tubes that are sticking out of him or he wakes up crying and desperate for nourishment. He's in an awful situation and has been pulled and prodded so thoroughly my heart just breaks when I hear him cry. At 5 weeks he hasn't had any of his jabs and waiting 4 days to get some relief from the viral meningitis diagnosis has only been brief. His Drs are concerned as he has an unexplained bruise which has apppeared around his belly button so the Drs are being vigilant before releasing him.
I'm so thankful that he is breathing for himself now, something which he started to do again yesterday, praise god. I am hopeful that he has managed to soldier through the worst of the virus and that he will be home again soon.
Sending all the love and best wishes to him and his family along with the hope that the remainder of this virus will soon abate.
