Walking with my ancestors
Wednesday, April 11, 2018
Some of my ancestors were Mormon Pioneers who walked to Utah. I looked on the overland trail website tells you what wagon train and any journals that have been found with people in that wagon train.
In one of my ancestors wagon trains the wagon master left a day by day journal of the entire trip! It mentions how many miles they traveled, what the weather was like, it mentions deserters from the civil war soldiers harassing them, running out of food etc.
I think it would be fun to log their story along with my daily walks. Of course I will not be walking 25 miles per day, but I could manage 5 miles. Maybe I could say my 1 mile = 5 miles for my ancestor.
Their journey begins July 31 in Nebraska and arrive in November 13!
However She lived in Denmark as the cook for king Frederik VII.
She left Denmark on May 5. I think I will chronicle her journey with my own.
