Back to Square One :(

Sunday, May 06, 2018

So, I met with the nutritionist for the first time. I took all of my food logs from the past 2 weeks for her to look at. She said I was on the right track but made a few tweaks to my numbers. I now feel like I’m starting all over again. After 10 weeks, I was in the grove and knew what I could eat safely and what I had to watch out for. All of that is gone now. I’m back to square one in learning what my new normal will look like. I’ve been doing a lot of stumbling the past 4 days trying to figure this all out. Staying in my carb goal range is easy. What is hard is how she wants me to do it. No more then 35 – 40 carbs per meal and no more than 10-15 per snack. Also, limit my carbs for breakfast. That one is the real kicker. That means no cereal or oatmeal  I’m now finding out just how many foods have carbs in them. I never would have guessed asparagus has carbs in it, whaaaat? I’m glad the challenge is almost over. I don’t want to mess up my good record. I need some time to figure out what I’m doing before the next challenge starts. emoticon

I wouldn't stress so much about it if it were just a matter of losing weight. However, I have to reduce carbs for health reasons.

I can sooo relate to the frustration of working so hard at doing it all right and not getting the results. It does sound like your records and body responses were what helped your dietician dial in on furthering you getting to where you need?

If it helps, reducing carbs has reaped significant benefits for me. Still waiting for the magic fat melt so many get to report, but I after fumbling and 'negotiating' about whether or not it was really real and worth it I'm to a point I can no longer ignore how much better my body does with the reductions. I don't feel an 'expert' at anything but would be glad to share menu ideas if it would help, just shoot me a SparkMail.

Make sure to give yourself credit for all that you have and are doing -- IMHO the few steps back are still far from Square One.

Perhaps this nutritionist is not a good fit for you. My dietician does not expect me to do math. She outlines a program, I follow it and track here on this site without all that stress.

I can see why you're feeling that way. I would feel the same. But if it was working for you, and your body was responding well to your meals I would continue what you were doing... No matter what, keep going, keep going! We're cheering for you🤛👏👏
