Not tracking - how it's going
Wednesday, May 09, 2018
Almost a month ago, I wrote that I was going to Not Track Anymore, at least for a while.
At the very least, I can confidently say that I've not been overeating, and have felt better than I did earlier this year when I wasn't paying any attention to what I've been eating!
It's hard to say if I've lost weight. It seems like the scale at the gym just wasn't moving at all, but after being "inspired" by a book called the "Economist's Diet," I decided to get a bluetooth scale and start weighing myself every day, first thing in the morning before I get in the shower. Weighing yourself every day is NOT for everyone, and I don't necessarily agree with this book's idea that the weight on the scale is a DIRECT reflection of what you ate the day before and how it affects your body, but I figured it was worth a shot.
I weighed myself on April 29th, but in the evening with clothes on, and I was 191.4 pounds. The next day in the morning, I was 185.2 pounds. This morning I weighed myself and I was 182.6. So, I guess according to my home scale, I have lost weight on my not-really-a-plan-plan, so I'll take it.
Admittedly, it's helped that my appetite seems to decrease when the weather gets warmer (and, you know, returns to that of a typical human being!). I also had one day where I just had too many Asian meals in a row (Thai, then Japanese, then Chinese) and apparently I reached "sensory specific satiety" (a term from another book, "The Hungry Brain") and I didn't even eat half of my food for the final meal. In fact, a friend who I usually will finish the food of actually ate some of MY food. Apparently, I don't actually like sushi anymore! Who knows when that happened?!
So, I'm going to keep on trucking with this, and see how it goes!
