Someone stole our boat out of the Marina today
Friday, June 01, 2018
My husband went to check on our 1998 26' Bayliner this morning and it was gone. After a call to the police they went into the marina (port) office to report there too. The marina at every entrance is locked at night. They went thru the surveilance video. It was stolen during broad daylight on Tuesday. A couple walked down the dock with inflatable life jackets on and duffel bags etc. The long blonde haired woman drove the boat while the man was seen doing something inside. We had the keys hidden, so assumed they hot wired the boat.
We are located as you enter the Pacific Northwest on the tip of the straits of Juan De Fuca, with Victoria, Canada straight across. Later today we got a call that the boat was in Victoria, Canada. It appears in good condition. We are working on how to get it home. Yes, we could go get, but we have no idea if they ran it into something on the bottom, or used up all the oil, etc. So all that has to be worked out. The Canadians did say the couple looked suspicious and were questioned, but somehow made an excuse then disappeared.
The good news is a wallet and a cell phone were left on board. I suppose being criminals they could be stolen, but am hoping it's theirs. How ironic uh?
Why did they want over there so badly?. The wind was rough that day, very rough. Maybe in those bags they had drugs?
Stay tuned. I'll let you know as I know something.
BTW the marina has been here since I don't know when. Early in Washington history. As far as they know they have had things stolen off a boat, but never an entire boat stolen. Lucky us uh?
