Hi Spark People,
I hope everyone had a really good week. My week was fairly productive as I nannied 3 days, tutored, paddle boarded, hiked, went to a minor league baseball game and took one day to just relax and do nothing. It was also my brothers 19th birthday this week so there was a lot of celebrating.
This week I did fairly good with the goals I set for the week and made a few decisions that I am hoping will help me (one of which is completely pushing me out of my comfort zone).
To start, I accomplished all of my goals I set last weekend:
I had intended on skipping 3 desserts and moderating/using alternative sweets the other 4 days. I ended up skipping dessert entirely 4 days this week. I shared a brownie with my brother on his birthday and yesterday I shared my dippin' dots with my boyfriend (though I probably could have shared more). Tonight I will be having a slice of my brothers birthday cake, but will be having an average size piece and not going back for seconds. One of the new things I am going to try and do is if for the next month (4 weeks) I can stick with eating only 4 desserts a week and making better choices when I do I am going to treat myself to some new Athleta workout pants.
My second goal for the week was to work out 5 days this week. I had intended on doing 3 general activities and 2 strength days, but my schedule got weird this week and only ended up at the gym once. However, I exercised for at least 30 minutes every day this week (walking, strength, stationary bike, hiking, and paddle boarding). So I feel like I successfully accomplished this goal.
My third goal for the week was to make healthy food choices. I did okay with this goal for the week. During lunches I made the healthy choice to pack my lunches rather than eat what the kid I nanny ate (sonic and amusement park food). Dinners this week went okay. Since it was my brothers birthday I ended up at two restaurants this week with my family and between the appetizers and my meal I was going way over my calorie count. This is something I need to work on.
My next big change that I am making is that I joined a 5% summer challenge here on the website. It is a little overwhelming as they seem to be fairly strict, but after getting help from a few members who have done the challenge in the past I feel a lot better. I am hoping that doing the challenge will help keep me on track through the next 8 weeks.
I am going on (a much needed) vacation with my boyfriend this week. That means a few things; First, I won't be able to regulate my eating as much (we will be in a small town so I highly doubt restaurants will be posting nutrition). Second, there is going to be a lot of driving so that is going to limit the amount of steps, hours standing, and calories I burn. Third, I intend on enjoying my week which means I don't want to be super strict. Lastly, I want to keep my phone and computer put away for a good portion of my trip. That means I won't be on here as often.
My goals for the week are going to line up with the realities of my vacation:
1) Skip 3 desserts for the week, make healthier choices the other 4 days (moderation or healthy alternatives).
2) Get 30 active minutes 5 days this week (this allows for me to not have to feel so stressed out to get 30 active minutes on our driving days)
3) Start my day off right with a healthy breakfast choice
Have a great week spark people!
