Our 4th of July in 2018.

Wednesday, July 04, 2018

Hubby's cousin invited us to his house for a cookout at 4 PM.

The morning was very muggy. We had thunderstorms and it was raining and lightning as we drove to his house. We had a good time there, left around 6:40 PM to go to Bible study. We drove home after church, saw a doe along the exit and came home.

My back door was unlocked and open, the gate to the back yard was open and it was because my son had come through the house to help my husband lift a cooler of drinks into our car. I had not checked to make sure everything was locked up. I did not like the feeling of coming home to find my house had been open while we were gone.

We saw a couple of fireworks being put off as we drove home on the interstate, but we were both too tired to go to a place where there was a display.

On our street, there were some boys putting off fireworks in the street. They set off some Roman candles and there was a car not very far away. I think someone in the car hollered at them for it.

Your 4th of July sounds pleasant = time spent with family & to have Bible study in the evening was such a blessing.

Unsettling to realize that one's home was open like that...however, there must be a great feeling of thanks to the Lord for keeping the dwelling safe from intruders.

After a lot of going & doing + having company coming out our ears...we finally opted to take advantage of the opportunity to spend the 4th home alone & enjoyed a very quiet & laid back day. We really needed that quiet time to just enjoy one another & our home to ourselves. Little Gal seemed happy that it was just the three of us, too. It seemed like most of the neighborhood had away-from-home plans, so ended up being extremely peaceful for us "homebodies". No emoticon for us this year...although we did hear a few way off in the distance. About ten on the evening emoticon , we had a lot of very loud thunder, but no emoticon . However, we were blessed with lots of rain drops night before last = everything looks so fresh & green.

Our eldest Grandblessing was injured on the job = ended up with a very deep eight-inch long gash on the back of his neck. It was so deep that there are stitches on the inside & then metal stitches (like staples) along the outside. Looks so painful! \o/ Praising & thanking the good Lord for protecting him from something that could have ended in his death! \o/ He is home now; however, he cannot do much of anything until there is significant healing. He has been our sibling-in-Christ since his teen years & it sure does seem that satan is one angry evil being in that he cannot turn the young man from his walk with our Lord Jesus on the throne of his life! Your prayer covering of our treasured young JR would be very much appreciated, Terrie.

Weather wise our area keeps swinging back & forth between in the low nineties & the mid to high sixties. I, of course, prefer the cooler days...although the warmer ones have their pros, too. A con about the higher temps is that the garden needs more watering & the water rates have been increased (very timely done emoticon ).

We noticed two rabbits in our front garden & they were nibbling on what looked to be weeds. That was fine with us, don't you know? Had me thinking that it would be nice if all wild creatures would feed on weeds & leave all else out in the gardens alone.

I have been chipping away at dropping the twelve pounds I told you about having gained. I keep doing well & then slipping back into not paying proper attention to what I was choosing to indulge in. Now though the weight has been dropping quite nicely = simply by concentrating on portion control vs calorie intake. I plan to get through to the Autumn months with the complete twelve recycled (as Lynda dubs such pounds) completely off my frame. I know that emoticon !

    God bless!

Oh my! Sounds like you had a good time @ the 4th of July party. That would have made me holler, too, if kids were lighting roman candles in the street.

Glad no one "broke" in and stole anything while you were gone. I always worry if something like that happens so have gotten almost paranoid and check the doors twice before leaving. Our back door doesn't want to close properly so believe we will replace it in the fall when our handyman returns from up north.

We had a pizza party at our clubhouse and spent the day at home otherwise. Poor Abbie was scared of the fireworks.

Some good, some bad! All in all - you made it through the day. Most of our days are filled with these ups and downs. I'm sorry you got those frights. Hope today is more peaceful!
