The Heat and Working Out

Friday, July 06, 2018

I don't know if this is true, but it would seem that gyms would have a decrease in the number of patrons coming in the summer. After winter, people are probably eager to get out in the sun. For those like me who don't like the heat, I would rather swim or workout at a gym. Biking, walking the dog, lying on a beach when the temps are 90 by 10 AM and keep climbing - is out of the question for me. Thankfully, the heat broke today, and it was only a high of 77 this afternoon. Very Pleasant.

The temps become very obvious on my temperature blanket. Here are pictures from the first 6 months. They both continued in purple for 4 days into July. The reds are 82 - 89 degrees. The purples are 90 - 98. NC had several days at 98. One more degree, and I'd be using a dark purple.

I hope everyone had a nice 4th of July weekend. It won't belong before we get to August and the kids are back in school. Enjoy the rest of July and August. I'm looking forward to a two week RV trip to Maine.

For my original explanation of the blanket, see my Jan. 18, 2018 blog

Milann, what an interesting idea for a knitting project! It sure shows the progression of the seasons, and according to location, every blanket will be different.

Totally agree about heat. I have no desire to get out there and move if it goes above about 85. In fact, even from when I was young, I feel rather sick when I try to exercise in heat. Going to the pool or working out indoors are good ways to avoid the queasy aftermath of being too active in heat. Good for you for finding ways to keep active!

What a clever idea! I have to tell my hubby's aunts about this. I'm wondering if they ever heard of this. They also do this type of craft.

    I love it!

Good to hear from you! I too dislike the extreme heat and humidity we've been facing. It was a gorgeous temperate day here in southern Michigan today too-- I actually pulled weeds and tended the garden without dripping sweat. Enjoy your vacation trip! emoticon
