I had to take a short break from Sparks.
The end of June I went to the bi-ennial family reunion. The group just keeps getting smaller due to old age and people going to their forever home. The remainder of us had a great time. It was good to spend time with my Mom, two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
I quit my part time job when I got back from the reunion. Ringo's day care was costing me more than I was making. He seems happy with that decision. He was awesome at the reunion, enjoyed the kids and all the petting. He did well in the strange hotels also.
I had eye surgery the first week of July. The lens from the cataract surgery 3 years ago needed a laser cleaning. Did the follow up this past Friday and things are healing nicely.
Today I want to talk about my wonderful neighbor TJ. She has been a Godsend. She looks after Ringo, drops by to take him for walks, and we really enjoy each others company. When my sister drove up here with three grandkids, we took them to the zoo and TJ went with us. I believe I have found a sister from another mother!
Sunday I went to church with TJ. Just a little background, I am a traditional Lutheran, so when I walked in the church and heard the rock music and saw all the hugging I was like WHOA!! Then people started coming up to me, so women even older than I, and I started to relax. Then the pastor spoke about serving and being the hands and feet of the Lord. I was entranced. He was funny, articulate and laid back. I am looking forward to going again next Sunday, The thing that impressed me the most was how happy every one was and the statement of services. Last week they had 12 service projects ranging from cleaning a city park and handing out water and Gatorade ( did I tell you how hot and humid it is here?) to weeding a schoolyard and providing a free car wash and free oil changes. That is amazing that 400 people took a whole day and did something for others. It certainly humbled me.
I am back on Sparks- not restarting just picking up where I left off. I spend the last few hours catching up on everyone's blogs. It is interesting that many people are dealing with the malaise of summer.
Thats the update for now- oh I almost forgot I found 5 lbs that I thought I had lost. So no progress on the weight loss for the past month. BOO!!
