First Yoga, and A Wipeout with Scraped Knee

Yesterday I went to Yoga for the first time. Not too bad! I was a little awkward in my transitions, but I was able to work through it. My triceps are incredibly weak, so I need to work more on that. My instructor is actually going on vacation for a month, so someone else will be leading the class next time. I will definitely go back. My muscles were sore from days of cycling, walking/jogging, and strength training, so I enjoyed the stretching. I think it did me some good!

On Wednesday, I'm taking another class that is called "Stress Relief Yoga". I can definitely use some of that!

My cat has a cold and a snotty nose. It's not like I can give her any medicine for it, so I took her to the vet. She doesn't have a fever, so the vet just gave me instructions on how to clean her nose, and we'll see if she's doing better at the end of the week.

I took my bike out for a ride this morning. I wanted to get some miles in before the rain later this afternoon. I took a minor wipeout, which took me by surprise. I've ridden this trail dozens of times and never had any problems. I hit a patch of loose gravel and slid into the dirt. I've got minor scratches on my knee, but nothing too bad. I rinsed it off with my water bottle, then continued my ride. I'm not sure if it had shaken my confidence because I slipped about 3 more times after that (without taking a tumble, fortunately). It's not like I'm a rough rider rock hopping or anything. Just an off day riding, I guess. I got home and cleaned the wound with soap and peroxide.

The rest of today will be taking it easy. I'm working from home, so I have reminders to stand up, walk and stretch periodically.

    I've had days like that on my bike, one day riding like a pro, the next it's like I'm starting all over, and need the training wheels!

    Sorry about the spill on your bike. That's the very reason I haven't pulled mine out of the shed in years. I am so afraid I will fall. But I am so much stronger with better balance than I've been in years so maybe it's time to dust it off and see what I can do.

    I'm glad you liked the yoga class. Usually yoga is fairly repetitious so once you learn the transitions they will just come automatically. I'll bet you'll like the stress relief yoga too. Our gym has a class called Stretched and Balanced - I'm not sure about the name but it's 45 minutes of working out the kinks and stretching out the muscles. Oh it feels so good when we're done.

    I was able to work from home the last few years of my work life and I just loved it. People always thought I could get other things done - not so much. In fact, I probably worked harder. But I could rearrange my days to suit myself a little better.
