Ode to a Caregiver~

Saturday, September 22, 2018

This blog is dedicated to caregivers everywhere ~THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

At the end of life, we all need and want a helping hand.
That helping hand that is ALWAYS there is : YOU.
You ,who put aside time for yourself ,time with your family
come to our aid and do WHATEVER may be needed
Regardless of how uncomfortable it may be ,
You offer a voice of help, assurances, comfort
especially ,when we the helpless, do not always WANT help ,but we NEED it.
Sometimes, you have to lift us or remove unwanted things.
Sometimes,we cry or are angry ,
but please forgive us, we just want to feel
INDEPENDENCE once again.
We want our former strength back, our lost time back
and sometimes, our old life back where
we were stronger. But,
we DO THANK YOU ,maybe not so much in words ,
as a look of happiness when we see you ,or a nod of thanks
or a hug of joy.
YOU are THERE EVERY DAY and that means the WORLD
to us. Please know ,you are not forgotten, but fill our days
as we seek the time when we get to see you again.
And God sees all that you DO,daily ,every day.
And HE KNOWS.

Post Note: I want to thank my brother for helping non stop when his ex-wife was dying of cancer ,complicated with a blood clot in her leg and she had no one else to help her. Her only child was there when she could be, fluctuating from her new job in another state .My ex-SIL 's parents had passed on and her only sister decided the rift from long ago was too big to care for her. Her friends did come when they could, to help and one or two neighbors, although there were some to SAY they would help and then backed out because they felt they could not lift her. I am also thankful to my parents ,though they have passed on,for teaching myself and my siblings how to care for others ,despite differences ,as it is how they were taught , and I think in today's world, caring for other people should ALWAYS be a precedence.
