The Lucrative Pinecone

I had a great idea to offer F to teach him a few lessons in life. After accessing the Hurricane Michael damage I offered F a deal. No damage but several areas in the yard had a ton of pinecones. Now I'm typically lazy and would run a pinecone over in a fast minute! But I offered to pay F twenty-five cents per pinecone he gathered into a bucket. I thought he could benefit in several ways, (vitamin D, make a few bucks, learn a valuable lesson!) I texted my wife to let her make the offer from me. He wasn't jumping on the deal until my wife gave him an ultimatum. If he didn't accept daddy's offer he could choose an earlier bedtime! I thought that was funny. He joined me in the shop for instructions. Soon he was steadily picking up pinecones and tossing them in a bucket. A few hours later and several breaks we set in the carport and watched F count out his collection. 212 cones later and he was ready to talk money. He made 53 dollars and I told him I would match his amount. I explained how good it feels when you earn something on your own and are able to purchase it. He wanted me to hand over every bucket I could find in the shop! On our way back from Walmart where he picked out a toy we decided to pick up some dinner and he didn't like what we were getting so we made him another offer. If he didn't want to eat what we picked up he could use his own money and make his own choice. He opted for Chic Fil A. We had a wonderful family day outside.
