November 9, 2018 CONFIDENT HOPE

We have probably heard people say they hoped for things such as a new car, a new job or some material thing. We hope for a pay raise at work. We hope we find the right dress for an event. We hope for this and we hope for that. The problem is we hope for things when we need to be putting our hope in God. We put our hope in God knowing He will provide for us. New things are nice but they soon grow old. However, God always has new and wonderful things in store for us when we put our hope in Him. Let’s choose to be content with what we have and put our confident hope in God.

SCRIPTURE:
Romans 5:5 “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write out things you hope for.
2. List what you have heard others put their hope in.
3. Know you should only put your hope in God.
4. Look to God for help and have confident hope He will answer.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know we are needy people. We often believe we need things we don’t really need at all. Help us to understand we only need You. We want to put our hope in only You. Move us away from the desire of the things of the world and help us to grow in confident hope knowing You are all we need. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
When we have confident hope in God, He will hear our prayers and help us.

Micah 7:7 “As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.” (NLT)

While hoping for things of the world can leave us anxious and empty, putting our hope in God can fill us with peace and contentment.

Psalm 62:5 “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.” (NLT)

We shouldn’t hope for things. We should put our hope in God.

FOCUS:
Psalm 25:5 “Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.” (NLT)
