Jump rope with a real or imaginary jump rope for 30 seconds.
Using a real or imaginary jump rope, lightly grip the rope in both hands and relax your shoulders.
With your knees slightly bent, start jumping by pushing off with your toes.
Lift the rope in small circles over your head, coordinating it so that you're in air when the rope skims the ground.
Rely primarily on your wrists and your forearms to turn the rope.
Keep your jumps low and land on the balls of your feet.
Your heels should only lightly tap the ground.
Avoid jumping on concrete or tile floors - go for carpeted surfaces, if you can.
Aside from making you feel like a kid again, jumping rope is a great workout for your heart and lungs.
And not only does it burn calories, it's also a fun way to bring a little burst of energy to your day.
To begin with, I don't own a jump rope. To end with, I'm not sure I trust myself not to trip up and end this exercise with a broken bone.
But, to really end with, I did do this activity - just without the rope - and found it both invigorating and confidence-building. I'm think I'm going to purchase a jump rope !
