What's your secret?

Yesterday I nailed the 50lbs lost mark! Woohoo! A celebrated with friends and family on Facebook. A friend asked me "What's your secret?"
Truth? There is no secret. It's a choice. I made a choice that my health and well being is MY responsibility. I made a choice that it's not only ok but imperative that I put myself first, it's my job to take good care of me. I made a choice to know soul deep that I can't give of myself to others if my own bucket is empty. I made a choice to do everything I can to not go one step more down the road to diabetes and disease.
I took that choice and started walking. I took that choice and joined a program that works for me. I took that choice and started logging food and counting calories. I took that choice and started learning about the psychological barriers I had put in place. I took that choice and stacked the deck in my favor by creating a support team of husband, family, friends, and coaches. And I took that choice and made plans to knock down barriers like getting a gym membership so I have no excuse for walking when the snow is on the ground.
I reminded this co-worker that there is no one right way to live a healthy lifestyle. Start small and keep building on that to the next healthy habit. Even one small change can have a big impact. Research, ask others, read, get excited, psych yourself up and go for it!
So my secret is there is no secret, anyone can do this. I believe this journey is 90% mind and 10% effort so get your head on straight and your body will follow.
Blessings to you all.
