Looking forward to "normal"

Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Today marks the day I hand over my "nanny duties" to her daddy and head back home to my "normal" life. It was sad to send my niece and great-niece #1 off to school and daycare earlier this morning. But I got a big hug and a supply of air kisses to tide me over until I see them again in a few weeks at Christmas. As soon as the morning traffic clears the city, I'll head for the highway and home. Hope I remember all of my belongings and leave behind any miscellaneous germs from either of the girls.

Even though not all of my family caregiving duties are complete (will still have regular but shorter lengths of "Mom duty!") I am looking forward to getting home and relaxing for a short bit before putting plans and lists into place for the coming holidays and some self-care. Most of my plans to keep up with healthier habits got de-railed by every day life (and being away from home) over the past two months.

As I listed in my last blog, gotta regroup and get back to basics while putting together a bigger plan for 2019! Made a small amount of progress on those basics since I wrote the list but there's much more to do before I can truthfully say they are in place.

Exercise?? Ha. A few walks outside with the dogs and a half-hearted attempt to resurrect my knee exercises and general stretching. Lots of room for improvement here despite the handicap of an early, cold, and snowy winter.

Water?? Um yeah... even though I've made an effort, my intake needs to double. With the cold outside and the heat on inside, my skin is screaming for more moisture so that's one physical reminder to keep drinking.

Fruits & Veggies... have at least made an occasional appearance on my plate. Will restock my frig tomorrow when I shop.

Music... YES! Not only do I sing with the girls ( picture this... a 2yo's version of holiday songs plus my singing at the top of my lungs in an attempt to drown out the nearby fire station station whistle which always makes the baby cry...) I have made it to recent rehearsals and am looking forward to dress rehearsal and performances of our cantata as well as church services.

Not great progress but onward and upward!
