Only three left!

Sounds like some kind of a sale is going on...
!!??!! Not quite. I'm feeling just a tad bit sentimental to think there are only 3/365 left of 2018. So am putting them to good use.
Technically, I planned the menu for my MEAL PLAN last night but am making it today's accomplishment... it's a plan within my overall plan! My menu is planned for the next week, the recipes are gathered, and the shopping is done! Woo Hoo!
So how did this happen?? Well, last night I was binge watching Season Two of GOT (Game of Thrones) in an effort to review the series before the final season arrives this spring. I generally don't watch a great deal of television so this is a holiday splurge. Of course, I also knit so I feel quasi-productive. Back to meal planning... my mind must have wandered a bit even though I was multi-tasking. Was going to visit Mom today and decided I really should make up a grocery list and hit the store even though it meant facing a Friday frenzy of shoppers. Dealing with Friday shopping seemed to be the lesser evil than weekend shopping prior to yet another holiday.
In order to bring some focus to the shopping list, I shut off the television and fired up the laptop. Whenever a recipe catches my attention and meets my criteria, I copy it into one of several documents in a folder called RECIPES (clever, huh.) So I browsed through my docs and identified a dozen or more recipes which fit one of the three main meals of the day (in my world, snacks don't require recipes.) From recipes to grocery list and - voila - a meal plan that covers the next seven days! I'm actually looking forward to getting the remaining holiday leftovers out of the way as my healthier resolutions and recipes kick in for 2019. I don't think much of the "before" foods will still be around by New Year's morning but anything that doesn't pass my healthy/healthier criteria goes out the door.
