Question of the day...

Monday, January 14, 2019

One of the threads on our 5% Challenge team is a QOTD - question of the day - that is posted everyday. They cover a variety of subjects - and I am amazed at the Team Leaders who have had responsibility for those threads and the ability to come up with the topics. Each Challenge means they need to post 56 questions! I'm not sure I am that curious. I try to respond everyday and I like going back later in the day to read others' responses. Why? Because I learn from them. It's a place to get to know our teammates better and a place where ideas are exchanged.

Last week one of the questions was to list 3 things we'd like to accomplish in 2019? One of my things was going to be to have at least one successful 5% Challenge this year - that means eliminate 5% of my weight. In a moment of clarity, I wondered what it would look like to have all FOUR challenges be successful. (There is one during each season of the year.) As I did the math, I realized that at the end of those challenges, I would reach the goal weight my doctor & I agreed would be good for me. We set that goal just before I was invited to participate in my first 5% Challenge in Winter 2014. Suddenly I was very motivated to follow my plan!

Will I do it? I can't guarantee that. I can be determined to do it. Can I do it? Yes, I did it in 2014, losing 54 lbs. across four Challenges. The 5% Challenges, though not totally successful, have helped me to not regain those 54 lbs. So, today, I am setting my intention for my 2019 5% Challenges:

IN 2019 I WILL SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE FOUR 5% CHALLENGES SO THAT I CAN ENTER INTO 2020 AT MY GOAL WEIGHT.

Amen.

Thank you for reading my blog and I hope that at least one of you will be inspired by it.

BLESSINGS:

2. @3VEGGIES for inspiring me though the 1/9/19 QOTD.
3. The surprise of being named Spark People Motivator for today.
4. No winter precipitation yet this year.
5. John, who motivates to get my "to-do" list done.
