Christmas is over.

Tuesday, January 22, 2019

Today Ted took the tree down. I thought he would donate it because half of the lights stopped working after Rocket Tucker Pepper Phd. played with them. Christmas this year was a real treat. They took us all to Texas for over a week. Mom even made the trip. We got to see Elizabeth and spend a few days with her. Then we went to an aquarium, the zoo, and a boardwalk near the ocean. Christmas with our extended family was really fun, and I think everyone enjoyed it. Snowy was there and got lots of attention. We had lots of gifts to give, which made me feel good. Ted got us the hotel and financed us, which made it even better. We had very little funds of our own. Laura gave us Christmas money, which bought the gifts. When we reach the Texas border on the way in I woke Jessica up because it seemed important. I teared up a little. I swear the food is much better there. Houston has so many restaurants that we could eat at a different one every day and never run out in a year. That is something I miss here. Our restaurants suck, are expensive, and there aren’t as many of them. The worst thing about Houston is that the back streets are horrible, and some of the drivers are completely insane. Once when we were leaving the hotel we saw a car on fire. When you get on the highways you’d better be ready for speed. We could live there, if not for the heat. It was fall there, the season we just skipped right over fall here, which is my favorite season. Now I have had my fall, and fun for the year, and it took the year up a whole star rating, maybe two. Of course my feet and legs swelled up like balloons, but I powered through it, until we got home. It took two full weeks to recover and drop the 10 pounds of water weight. Now I’m down another 4 pounds from a week of salads. Good enough for now.
