Exercise is making me SOOOOOO hungry!

Friday, February 01, 2019

So last May, I decided to try keto, to help me lose some weight fast and without exercise. I wanted to make it easier on my body when I added exercise. (I was having problems with sciatica and spinal arthritis in my back, and joint pain in my knees and hips). It worked great, and I ended up 50 pounds less for the year.

I went into maintenance mode for the holidays, letting myself eat carbs and all the things I had denied myself, but not letting it turn into a free for all. I ended up 5 or 6 pounds ups, which I wasn't really that upset about. I decided that I didn't want to do keto again, but would try just lower carb..basically about 50 to 100g per day.

Last week we joined the local Y, and we've worked out a schedule - T (cardio), W (Swimming), F (cardio & Strength Training) and S (swimming). And I've stuck to it, and even been surprised how much more swimming I could do the 2nd time, (I basically tripled the amount of laps). But the downside, is that I've been RAVENOUS, especially for carbs, and I've been tired, so I've been eating a lot of easy convenience food.

I've not been particularly hard on myself, because I'm building a new routine, but I need to find away to combat the carb cravings, hopefully without having to give them up completely.

Yes, I try to always have a snack available so I'm not ravenous after exercise.

Most of the time I win. But I must say ( my opinion only ) I would not touch keto under anything but my doctor’s orders. It is recommended for certain people.

Lots of people have the same exercise hunger. Me included. I just try to bring a snack of some kind to tide me over after the gym. A Lara bar, an apple, something...it helps a lot , but it remains a challenge. I try to power through and most of the
