A new way of eating for today

For years, I have been this weight. For 26 years to be exact. Gained it when pregnant with my son as an "older" mother. I never lost it. Not even a pound when he was born. I have type 2 diabetes. I love carbs, but most carbs are my enemy. I have tried weight watchers, the atkins diet, medical weight loss(which ended me up in ICU), and any "diet" I could come up with. I have exercised, drank water, eaten the plate method...half plate veggies, one quarter protein, one quarter healthy carbs. A former student of mine, who has been obese all of her life, tried the keto diet. I do not know if it really is healthy for the long term. But, for today, I am testing it out the entire day, and checking my blood sugar before eating, 1 hr. after, 2 hrs. after, 3 hrs. after, just to see if I can stabilize my blood sugar. Will one day hurt? Probably not. Might it help? Maybe. I do not like extremes. However, this I know...refined carbs are my evil. Just for today, I am eating a new way.
