Vitamix Spark, Plants Removed, Acupuncture, Update on 2 Friends w/"C" Word

Tuesday, February 12, 2019

Yesterday, my old Vitamix did a huge spark; not from the plug, but from the metal at the base of the container. I assume that means not to use it again? It's scary to see sparks fly.

This morning the guy I hired to cut down the two huge plants is coming. I'm hoping it goes quickly as I have my acupuncture appointment with a new practitioner that opened up at the last minute. Fortunately, it's close by so there should be no sweat in arriving on time.

I'm trying not to be sad, but it is sad when two friends are dealing with cancer. One had a double mastectomy last year. I saw her yesterday and she said she just went to the doc and the results were not good. She didn't want to go into details, and I don't like to pry. Watching others accept the inevitable is intense.

My neighbor was diagnosed with bladder cancer and I mentioned her in a past blog. It has taken three months to go through all the paperwork and figure out which provider to use. The cost, even with insurance, is staggering. For example, a 6-hour stay for a biopsy was billed at $26,000!!!

She has found out that the bladder cancer was caused by a medicine she was given a few years ago for extensive mouth surgery. At this point, she has lost sight in one eye, has to have the bladder removed, and is starting chemo this week. Just when she started to get a break in life with things going fairly well.

Here's to a good day, friends.

as if dealing with the diagnosis isn't harsh enough the cost ($26k) is staggering …. usa really needs to to do something about medical costs, I truly hate thinking about anything to do with doctors, hospitals, tests even for well-woman visits ~ because of the prices involved

with that said, I'm still a stickler for annual flue shots and wish more people would make the effort to vaccinate (including children) What's the point of research advancements if people don't take advantage of it for their families ? (measles for example- it's ridiculous that in 21st century parents are withholding help from their kids)

Sorry to hear that you friends are so sick. Living in Canada I never realized the cost of medical treatment.

So very sorry to hear of your two friends :-( That is so sad to hear.
I wouldn't use the Vitamix either, but contact the company. They have a 7 year warranty. Mine was past the warranty and they still helped me out so they stand behind their product.
Hope the plant removal was successful and that you feel better.

I would not use the vitamix.

I hope the plants are down and that you like the new acupuncturist

I can relate to the ill friends. Almost every boy I dated seriously is dead now. And some of my female friends too.

So sorry about your friends. One of my best ever friends has more health issues than one person should ever have to deal with. Life is uncertain, and I'm reminded to give thanks for every day while being supportive however I can. Scary about the Vitamix. Mine is hanging in there.

Sorry about your friends! Cancer is nasty! A few years ago, I had a hair dryer that started smoking. I unplugged it quick. It never worked after that. I told my teen son about it & ended with "You know how smoking kills" I got the teenage eye roll

So sorry about your friends. I am a double mastectomy survivor, so my heart really goes out to others that are dealing with this. I wish we had the answers so others could avoid the heartbreak.

Will you be getting a new Vitamix? Sounds like you deserve one!
