I am struggling

Sunday, February 17, 2019

My husband and I love to cruise. It is our favorite vacation because we meet so many nice people onboard, love the food and entertainment and it's great to see so many places without having to pack and unpack. My problem is that the food is so good that I also put on a couple of pounds and suddenly now I'm having super trouble taking them off. I consistently stay under sparkpeople's calorie allotment when I get home. But no matter what I do. I can't get rid these 2-3 pounds.

Anybody got any suggestions for me?

My suggestions are aligned with APPLEPIEAPPLE.

Also, if you snack, you might also consider not snacking and moving the snack food to a meal. In other words, eat larger meals; but, create time for the body that it does not have to focus on digestion. It is very difficult for our bodies to go into fat burning mode, if we are grazing our way through the day.

Also, think about what you are eating. Macronutrient composition can make a big difference for some of us.

So, for me, it is often more about what and when I am eating and not necessarily how much. Not that quantity doesn't matter; but, it is one factor and not necessarily the most important factor.

And, what I consider to be the weight loss secret weapons: sleep and hydration. Are you sleeping enough and well hydrated?

What helped me was intermittent fasting. When I got back form my cruise I had gained about 5 pounds. But by fasting from 6 PM to 12 PM the next day (which is 18 hours daily) I was able to remove the weight in 2 weeks. Since 8 hours is sleeping, and 4 is no evening snacks and breakfast at noon or no earlier than 9 Am to make sure I get at least 15 hours of fasting, my fasting might vary for 15-18 hours. I still dieted but I tried to eat more protein, vegetables, and definitely, less sugar. Also drank my 8-10 glasses of water and did my normal exercise.

If you get any good advice please share it with me please. We also like to cruise and vacation. I am struggling to get rid of the 3 pounds over goal. I go down a 1 1/2 and then go back up. So I feel your frustration. I'm looking forward to spring and summer when I am so active in my yard and garden and walking is much more enjoyable.

Vacations are always difficult, cruises and Club Med (our fave) are really hard.

Sometimes it helps to mix things up - if you normally have a small breakfast and lunch and then a larger dinner, move calories around so your breakfast is bigger and dinner is smaller. Or have a bigger breakfast and then salad for dinner.

Our bodies can get used to a plan, and then we stop losing weight. So changing things up can help.
