Calories per Activity: Grocery Shopping Is Exhausting So How Many Calories? Help?

Wednesday, February 20, 2019

I am putting together a Calories Burned Per Activity Chart that is personalized for me, and the activities I do frequently, like walking slow for pleasure versus standing in line and stuff. For example, grocery shopping: I walked and touched my toes and turned and reached and lifted weights! I walked levelly. I walked up stairs. I walked with packages of weights. I walked pushing a cart, full and empty. Then I did it all again when I got home!

Here are where I'm getting information:

Calories Burned Per Activity: Gym versus Sports Activities versus Outdoor stuff: https://www.health.harvard.edu

Calories Burned Sitting: http://www.dietandfitnesstoday

Calories Burning Shopping: https://captaincalculator.com/

Now I need to know how to take such a list and calculate how many calories I burn, at 220 pounds, comparing the weights of people in the chart. What is a What-If function? Can I compare 3 people at different weight so I get calories burned per minute for a 4th person at 220? Like, if 125 pounds burns 90 calories in 30 minutes, how much will I burn.

That is where I have gotten after two hours of reading and plotting. Phew! I need to learn more about calculators and computers and stuff. If I stay motivated and find the time, I will post what I find out.

I'm confused about it all too, but if I can figure it out, my weight management project will be a lot easier. Thanks for reading the post!

Reading those labels are confusing. I don't understand grams and how much.

Maybe I can teach myself to do a little dance when I get something done, to just liven up the day as I do chores. That's a welcome thought, thanks!

You are on top of this!! Sometimes I purposely don’t even try to track my few activities (like dancing in my kitchen) just because I want little pleasures like that to become more like a habit. At the same time, you should track your regular activity
