Oreo and the Dustmop
Wednesday, March 06, 2019
After spending her first two weeks in my house being hissed at by Bear (the first week through a closed door and the second to her face), Oreo finally responded in kind. But not to Bear. No, she saved her ire for the dust mop. She watched as I pulled it out of the closet, and as soon as I began to run it over the tile floor, she started hissing at it. She didn’t seem to be afraid. She didn’t run away. Instead, she followed it all around the room, hissing at it the whole time. She continued to do that until I finally stopped and let her sniff at it for a while. Then she stopped hissing but still followed the mop around, keeping a careful eye on it. I guess she figured that it was one thing to have to share a house with a grouchy old orange cat, but she wasn’t about to let some fuzzy, florescent-green alien creature have free rein without careful supervision. Glad to know that I now have a watch-cat keeping us safe from invading dust mops. Now if she only had a method for scaring away the dust bunnies.
