Ugh - Scales!

So, I have a question.... when women are on their periods do they gain extra pounds? I've always thought we did... but, scientifically do we? If so, approximately how much weight does a woman gain while on her period?
Here's my thing... I have REALLLLLYYYYY been trying my damndest this go round with no excuses... no whining no nothing. Just 100% commitment!
I went to the grocery store and bought all new things... fruits, veggies, meat, cheese, yogurts and for the first time skipped the pizza, skipped the chips and cookies and candy etc. I didn't even buy soda! Usually I would go way out of my way just to go buy a soda.... I haven't! I get all the free soda I want at work... and this week I allowed myself 1 ... that's right... 1!!!! For a full week now! I've been faithfully drinking water all throughout the day instead. With the first cup of coffee in the morning that is....
Each day at work I spend my lunch break walking on the treadmill ... it's something... it's getting my blood pumping if nothing else...
My newest thing I've added is for every bathroom visit whether at home or work - I've been doing 10 squats. It might not sound like a whole lot... only 10... but, if you knew how many times I need to pee!

It adds up!
So, back to my starter question.... with all that I have committed to this week... my scale has gone up vs. down which is again... incredibly discouraging. Especially when I am trying to very hard to make changes.
Thank you for any and all answers, words of encouragement, advice, etc... It is welcomed!
