Competition ain't so great

I learned a good lesson: Sometimes it is better to be LESS Competitive. I joined a group at work where we practice mindful eating, include a little bit of exercise every day, and engage in some spiritual wellness.
Well, it all started out well as a 1 mile walk. A friend and I lead the group of ten around but when we got towards the end, someone yelled run and I did. So did another lady and I was huffing and puffing as she ran behind me. I held my hands out and she ran around me but in the grass and then fell down HARD. She was holding her face and crying. We did not bump into each other and I did not trip her, but our carelessness ended up in someone getting hurt. I should not have started running, it was not a race. She knocked the air out when she fell scraping her knee, bumping her head and landing hard on her right hand. I got her ice packs and something for the pain and vowed never to do that again. I will continue walking at lunchtime and sign up for the occasional 5K but I will be much more reluctant about running in a group of walkers.
