It's been awhile since I blogged, so I felt like I needed to do one.
Spring is FINALLY here in eastern Ohio! Our resident groundhog has come out from under our barn after a long winter's sleep. He looks pretty plump too, so he must've eaten enough to last him through the winter. All the birds are back and the goldfinches have turned bright yellow in hopes of finding a mate. The robins have been back since March and I still see a dark eyed junco here and there, but they'll be gone soon though. Me and my husband made a homemade suet, really pretty easy, but so far the birds aren't crazy about it, and I have 5-6 more blocks in the freezer! Maybe Mr. Groundhog would like it :)
I cleaned out our flower bed, picked up all the tree branches that fell over the winter and cut grass yesterday for the first time this year. My crocuses have come and gone, but my bleeding heart is just starting to bloom. I should've taken a picture! I'd much rather do all that than shovel snow! There's still a lot of outdoor work to do, but it's something I don't mind doing, it means that the winter is gone for another 7-8 months!
My granddaughter plays sports for her high school and it's softball season now. She's doing pretty good, she's in as a DH as a freshman, so she's not complaining. It's nice to sit outside and watch them play, rather than holing up in the house because of the cold.
Can you tell I'm happy? Just wait until summer gets here! I'll be ecstatic, as it's my favorite time of the year! :)
edit: I have to brag on my gd, she lettered in softball as a freshman, ended up replacing the girl at first base for most of the season!
