Missed phone call and a terrible day yesterday
Monday, May 20, 2019
Yesterday was supposed to be a good day but it was awful! The night before we spent most of the night in ER. My daughter Cassie had bad abdomen pain. I got off work and we took her to ER because we thought it might be her appendix. After being up on saturday for work since 4:30 Am We ended up in ER until 1 AM. It was her gallbladder, She is supposed to avoid foods that cause pain and follow up with her Dr. Then yesterday I got up at 6:30 to go to church. My son Ryan was graduating from High School and my daughter Melissa was supposed to get to call us from boot camp sometime that day. Cassie was watching her diet and felt better. Melissa had finished the crucible on sat and this was liberty Sunday for her. It should have been a good day even though I was very tired. I kept my cell phone with me constantly so I could get her phone call. I took it with me to the grocery store, the bathroom, everywhere. I had my family call me to make sure it was loud enough so I would not miss the call. After church we picked up his graduation cake. We went to graduation at 1:20 to get seats that I could leave easily and go in the hall to take her call. This was just in case she called during graduation. I thought I would get out talk to her and come back to graduation. We thought she did not call during graduation. When we were taking pictures outside after graduation which was also not great because it was cold and rainy. I got messages on voice mail that we had missed her call. they were very sad because she thinks we did not care enough to answer her calls. She also left messages on our home phone. I found out there is not any cell phone reception in the high school auditorium. I was so sad about missing her call. Our grown son Kyle who was also at graduation made Ryan feel bad on his graduation by getting angry and acting like it was Ryan's fault. He also said he should not have gone to graduation. He also said he would never go to one again. This made Cassie feel bad because she will graduate in 3 more years. I know he said these things out of anger but it ruined Ryan's special day. Then later I got a call from my Aunt Jean. My aunt Ernestine passed away last Friday. We had gone to see her in the nursing home every few months. She was always so thrilled to see us. It was one of the things Melissa and all of us were going to do on her 10 day leave. We were looking forward to going to see Aunt Ernie. The last time I saw her I promised I was coming back to see her soon. She was about 200 miles away or we would have seen her more often. We loved her so much. Aunt Jean, Ernie's sister was calling to get a ride to the funeral. We are going to the visitation and the funeral so we are taking Jean. Jean is in her eighties so I hope the trip won't be hard for her. I hope I get another chance to talk to Melissa on the phone.
