I am back ... again :-)

Monday, June 24, 2019

I was going to give you the big long story of everything that I have been doing the last three to four months since last I posted, but I don't think I'll bore you or me with the details. Needless to say, I did not lose the 15 pounds I gained. The only thing that really works for me is the accountability of recording my calories everyday. It's the one thing I've been trying to avoid. And to avoid calorie counting, I have gone vegan. That worked and a dead, but was very hard to do. Far too much cooking. I tried intuitive eating. That works if you listen to your intuition, but I used it as an excuse to eat entire boxes of cereal and quarts of ice cream in a week. So I'm back but that's okay because honestly I missed you guys a lot. I kept thinking I would sign on just to say hello, but I was even too lazy for that. So here goes, this is day one of calorie counting. Hope you are all doing great.

Great to see you! We missed you too! I could relate to what you said about intuitive eating. I intuitively want to eat all the food. I also must record what I eat. I do weightwatchers points, but same concept. if I don't do it, over time i will gain weight. I have to be accountable. I hear you about vegan cooking. have a wonderful vegan cookbook even though i am not vegan, but the recipes all take forever so I only use it on days when I have lots of time to linger around cooking which seems to be a few times a year at most! The recipes I make nightly are simple.

Yay, yay yay! So glad to see your back emoticon Since you've been gone I've decided to do the 16- 8 fast for Alzheimer's. I've been studying about it since 2015. It actually is good for many things but After I watched a Ted Talk about it, I decided to do it.

Calorie counting keeps me mindful, it's difficult but I find if I don't do it, I lose track easily.

    Do what works for you.

emoticon Instead of trying all these new kinds of diets, why not get with a nutritionist and just eat what is healthy for you. Eat a breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing fancy but just healthy fresh food. You'll be amazed how satisfying it is.

If calorie counting works for you, then keep on. Just take it one day at a time. Sometimes just hour by hour.

Yay, so glad you're back! I kept you in my friends because I was hoping you'd return.

So while you've been gone ... I've been doing intermittent fasting for four months and it's working for me, the only thing that's worked in years. Basically I just eat my meals within an 8-hour window each day, then don't eat for the other 16 hours. Still eating the way I was before - low carb, no sugar etc - but not counting calories at all. I got into this from reading a book by a kidney specialist who's been using it with type 2 diabetics, Dr. Jason Fung.

The fasting lowers your insulin production, which also lowers your appetite and body-weight setpoint. Doesn't sound like you're up for yet another program right now, but if you get curious here's a link to a blog that explains a lot of it. I have some progress pics in my blogs.

Welcome back! Just a plain healthy lifestyle worked for me, which included counting calories. If I don't count calories I eat too much.
