My first blog post.

Never written a blog post before. Thought I'd give it a try. I started my latest journey in March 2019. I finally got myself to a good place mentally so that I could concentrate on my health.

I'm trying to get healthier to lower my blood pressure and cholesterol. (And so I can be around to drive my husband and son crazy!) Just had a check up with my doctor a couple of weeks ago. My blood pressure is in check with medication. But, even though I've been following the Sparkpeople, my cholesterol had gone up. So my doctor is giving me one more chance to lower it. I have lowered it in the past to a really good level, so I know I can do it!

My current plan for lowering my cholesterol this time around is to only have one meat a day. And then fill in the rest with beans. I really do like beans overall. It's just their a pain to prepare. I like to get the dry beans, which means I have to soak them overnight, and then still cook them when it's time to eat them. I took a small Tupperware bowl with a lid, and just measure out every night what I need for the next day and soak them in that. It's been working out really well.

I have been tallying my food also with my old Weight Watcher's tools. So I'm staying within my points most days. And then I log everything on the Sparkpeople to see where I am with all my nutrients especially fiber, protein, calcium, and cholesterol.

For the first time in my life I'm actually exercising almost daily. I follow the Jump Start Your Workout challenge on here. I have found some really fun cardio workouts on YouTube. They are from thebodyproject.com The guy on there is really motivational! I usually switch between two different ones. There is a low impact Fun Beginner Workout, and then there is a low impact Cardio Starter video. The Cardio starter is a bit more intense, but the guy is so motivational it doesn't matter. I can actually say I enjoy exercise!
