Home Sweet Home

When things start to happen, they happen! Tom called me this morning just after 7 am - Daisy and I were heading out for our walk. The doctor had already been there and as soon as he had his breakfast the nurse was going to start the preparations for him to go home. Because I didn't want another drive in rush hour traffic, I told him I'd be there about 9:30.
As I walked into the surgery recovery area there he was, walking, without anything hanging from his body. A first in almost 3 months. He looked disheveled but healthy. I went to the room and the nurse came in with discharge papers. He came back and she said she had a call in to the Doctor but Tom could get dressed and get ready to leave. We were out of that hospital before 10:30!
So we are home now. He's showered and I have made a nice chicken salad for our lunch. Of course, being the person he is he is questioning every little ache and pain. I provide answers but I'm pretty sure he doesn't believe me - even though I know I'm right. His body has been through quite a trauma and it needs time to heal, period! I love that his mind works so quickly but some days I wish there was an off switch!
Life will begin to go back to normal. He is only restricted with activities for one week, although I'm sure he will push that out to two. I said "listen to your body and do what feels right". He doesn't seem to understand that so maybe this is a learning experience for him.
Thank you again for all your kind words and support, it has meant the world to me. I have been doing my best to take care of myself. I got home about 3:30 yesterday afternoon and did pretty much nothing for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Daisy and I watched a couple of silly Hallmark Christmas Movies and I got a little caught up on computer things. Today will be another day like that with some good stretching this evening. My knees have really been bothering me with all this sitting so it's time to get myself back to the gym.
I appreciate each and every one of you!
