The Flip-a-Coin Walk or "Hummus Happens"

My teen needed to do a home-based fitness session for her P.E. class at school. She's been putting it off all weekend. I find motivating myself to engage in targeted fitness challenging but I had to put my own sometimes negative attitude aside for her sake and act cheerful and happy about it and try to make it fun. Funny how acting motivated (even though I wasn't) turned around on me and the next thing you know, I was actually enjoying myself thoroughly. We decided to use a coin and flip for which direction we would walk at each corner. We solemnly asked the Universe to guide us along whichever path would be the best for us. After quite a few twists and turns (ending back where we started at one point) we found ourselves smack dab in the middle of a farmer's market. We kept our stride brisk but did stop long enough to scoop up a package of freshly baked whole wheat pita pockets -- they were still warm! -- and some really nice kalamata olive hummus. We rounded it out with some carrot juice and a basket of figs. They were yellow and green striped tiger figs which is a variety I'd never heard of. Exercising first thing in the morning is a habit I've considered building and this walk which rewarded us with such an awesome breakfast was clearly, to my mind, a direct nudge from the Universe to go ahead and build this habit. I feel really good about what we did today.
