Cholesterol down!

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

I've been kind of nervous about my check up appointment today that I had with my doctor. She has been watching my cholesterol for the last year. This was the appointment where if I didn't improve, we were going to start the medicine. I kind of came to terms about this thinking that I would probably need to take it... the last couple of tests were a bit high. But I did change my eating a bit this time around. I only had one meat a day and used nuts, egg whites, and beans to fill in the rest of my protein.

So.... I went in there and she said my bad cholesterol was down in the normal range! I was so excited after all of that hard work! So I just need to continue on with what I'm doing and I should be good.

My husband has really high cholesterol, and I've been trying to get him to make small changes here and there. Nothing big. But he doesn't want anything to do about it. He's taking two different medications (one is a pretty high dose) just for the cholesterol. All I can do is focus on myself, and then if he ever does decide to try something I could guide him along.

I'm feeling pretty good today overall. I love the fall with all of the leaves changing colors. And I love the smell of the leaves. Every few years we take a scenic drive to see all of the colors along the mountainside. I was thinking about doing that this year. The last time we went we took my grandmother. She has since passed away though... it might get a little emotional. But I'll get through it!

We've also got the fair coming up. My son and I are going to go to that. We love to see all of the sights... the animals, the giant pumpkins!, and the goodies. I'll probably make that my splurge day... I have this one place where I get apple dumplings. They taste just like my grandma used to make. So yummy.

Have a great night!

emoticon on lowering your cholesterol! One of the side effects of my bone density medication (Prolia) is to raise cholesterol so I've just recently had to start taking a low dose of a statin. I was so sad! emoticon Maybe you'll be an inspiration to your husband! emoticon
