Children's Exercise

Tuesday, October 08, 2019

Today is American Touch Tag Day. Tag is one of the oldest and most popular game worldwide. When we were young, we often played this when friends gathered. It is also a very good exercise for the child that watches too much T V.

Old fashion Tea Cakes was something my Mama made for us often after school days were over. We did not have to watch our diet back then. Probably because there was so much to be done, we worked it off. She made these many times, and we always enjoyed them. Sometimes she would make a chocolate sauce to dip them in. I miss my Mama's cooking, but most of all I miss her.

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add milk, nutmeg and vanilla. Sift flour, sat and baking powder together and combine with other mixture. Add enough additional flour to roll out, then cut. Bake on un-greased cookie sheet in oven at 325 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen tea cakes.
