Changed Mindset

Tuesday, October 08, 2019

Yesterday, something clicked. I was reflecting and asking myself "What is it that I did three years ago that I am not doing now?" While activity was definitely different, the biggest change is my mindset. I was focused on the positive.
I'm not looking for problems. I'm looking for ways to improve. Instead of hyperfocusing on my mistakes, I want to focus on increasing the amount of success I achieve. Instead of focusing on restricting how much "junk" I can eat, I am going to focus on how many vegetables and clean foods I can eat.
I'm also going to limit myself at the gym to only two activities and an absolute deadline of 3.5 hours or 9:30PM. I want to be in bed by 10PM if possible. 10PM will also be my time to turn my phone off.

What kind of kicked this off was a few things. The biggest one was that I realized that my "anxiety" I've been feeling is actually being over-caffeinated. So, I'm trying to cut back from 5 cups a day (even I'm surprised by that number) down to 1 or less cups a day. I enjoy the taste of coffee, so going decaf may be a solution to consider as well.

emoticon Great insights here, especially regarding the positive mindset. Try jotting 3 positive things that you did on your calendar each day; like a 'gratitude habit', a 'positive habit' can produce some surprising results even though it might sound silly at the outset. It has to do with seeing more of what you are looking for.

You are doing some really important self-reflection or analysis. I have learned to blend decaf with regular coffee and it has helped a great deal. I get enough caffeine to avoid headaches, but not enough to cause problems. Keep up the thoughtful work. emoticon

This is good stuff! Feeling the positive vibes. Best wishes with the coffee. I drink too much coffee too. It’s hard to cut back but I know you can and will.

Five cups would keep me hopping for 24 hours straight! Good change to lower that..
Gratitude and positive thinking are great!
