It all started about a week ago when I was talking on the phone and sort of wandering around the house like you do.
maybe that's just me
I saw a bright green lizard sitting on the windowsill - inside the dining room. I went back after I got off the phone and didn't see it.
maybe I need a nap you know - seeing green lizards in the dining room
Turns out she was just on the curtain. I caught her in a flower vase and then...
got a little critter crate
added some sticks & water and some mulch
then a bigger reptile habitat with a log and some plastic plants that I'm slowly replacing with plants
This is Ruby the green anole what we call a carolina chameleon because they can turn brown, grey, yellowish and bright green. They don't like to be handled a great deal but make pretty good beginner reptile pets.
Next up is a thermometer. I got a light for her and she started hiding under her log so I turned it down.
I've convinced the hubs to go to repticon next weekend. He's been quite clear about not having any snakes in the house, but he's getting rather fond of ruby.
Before anyone starts in on wild things being wild...I'm an experienced reptile handler because I come from a weirdo family. Had she started showing signs of stress I would have turned her loose. Generally if they're stressed, they stay brown and she's been changing color quite a bit. I've seen her eat and drink water so she seems pretty content in her new home.
We figure she probably was on a package or something that someone brought in the house.
