What our Town is doing to get the Community Moving !!

Friday, October 18, 2019

I live in a small town population over 10,000 in North Eastern Pennsylvania ( not far from the Poconos ) We have the founder that is in health care & an advocate started a program called Berwick on the Move. The program runs from October until June 2020 . We were given a little booklet like a passport record the date ,the activity, the minutes & a comment.
There are also challenges that are put out for us to meet, the first one is to walk to our test track & there s the stands for the disc gulf You have to walk to each one take a selfie or have a friend take your picture by each one then post it to
Berwick on the Move. This enters you into a drawing for gift cards. There will be challenges through out this adventure to be met.

I must add my story about only able to walk no more than 10 minutes all summer long ,crawling around on hands & knees to dust furniture
I have 6 bulging disc .I see a spine Doctor that manipulates my spine. It is helping slowly I am now able to walk 20 minutes at a time. So what I do I walk 3 times a time 20 minutes each. .This challenge has got me moving . Seeing others involved is an encouragement & you want to get out there as well!
Have a lovely day make it count do a challenge !!

    Hi Judy,
It's been a long time since I catch up with you. A lot has happened in my world but thanks be to God, situation is getting better.
In short, hubby has a few health issues: started with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, had a couple of spine surgeries, diagnose with bladder cancer last Oct, doc tried to remove tumors 3 times on Nov 27, Dec 27 & May 31. he also had a BCG treatment but it didn't do anything. Tumors was very aggressive, it kept growing back after each surgery. Finally, Aug 21, doc removed his bladder. Oh also, Jun 14, he had wrist and elbow surgery done. There is still one more surgery he has to do, rotator cuff and neck but it is on hold for now.
I am happy to hear that you are doing better now. Will keep you in our prayers.
Take care & have another blessed day! ^^
    Hugs,
    Daisy

p.s the good news is our daughter has graduated high school in May and she is now in NIU.

Judy, I am so glad that the spinal manipulation is helping you. It is huge progress that you can walk 20 minutes at a time. I think your towns project is amazing. Very fun, and very inspiring! I wish our town would do something like this; but maybe we are just too big

What an awesome idea. Every town should do this, and think how we could combat obesity, especially with they involved children. I think school should put gym back on every students schedule, at least 30 minutes a day, for I see so many kids that are so over weight. Larry goes to the convientant store every morning for coffee and he see mother after mother come in and grab donuts, pizza, and pop or juice for the kids in the car. Now what happened to feeding the kids breakfast at home.
