Ending the Wedding With a Bang

My big family’s Albanian wedding in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, ran long last night... with MORE Albanian line dancing (which was a lot of fun) and contemporary American dance music and moves (which were also a lot of fun ) and the most AMAZING and delicious 4-5 course meal, which followed fabulous appetizers, including wonderful fruits and vegetables. I am counting the dessert course as 2, and maybe should count it as THREE, since they served dessert fruit and cheese plates independent of the wedding cake, AND the baklava.
Anyhow, the forecasted rain did not depress the wedding spirits of joy, even though the sky opened up and POURED as we were leaving the reception early (at midnight!)
And when we got to our lodging, we had just enough time to get ready for bed, when our phones went CRAZY, announcing an imminent TORNADO!!! Well, I’m from TEXAS, where we ignore such warnings at our own peril, and so it meant trying to figure where would be the best place for us three adults, and one large dog to shelter....
the bathroom was too small, and most of the other rooms were too exposed, so we wound up in an end-of-the-hall storage closet together, even the dog, as the weather service fed us tidbits of valuable information through our phones, and there we stayed until the All Clear at 2:15am, and as tired as we were, is just one more really memorable moment of the ending festivities... so glad that no one (at least connected with us) was hurt...
The mother of the bride and I drove back to Charleston (from Myrtle Beach) today and the skies gradually cleared completely to almost cloudless blue as we headed south... I think I’m ready for a good long sleep tonight.
