More Fall River Hikes

Monday, October 21, 2019

Earlier this week, I had surgery to remove skin cancer on my face. The spot was very near my eye; so I ended up swelling and a black eye. It is funny to think that I used to occasionally wear purple eyeshadow! Styles certainly change. Anyway, we should all get our skin checked annually. Skin cancer has become much more common.

Despite mt black eye, I enjoyed lovely walks along the river.

The fall colors were on display at Farewell Bend park. My hometown of Bend Oregon was originally named Farewell Bend, because pioneers would dump huge piles of possessions before crossing the Deschutes river.

I also hiked a loop at Riley Ranch.

My friend Moon always has such fun posing for photos. And she convinced me to strike a silly pose for my photo too.

My hikes along the river inspired me to do another painting. My watercolors are very imperfect. I do them just to practice and play with color: but I enjoy doing these landscapes.

Tomorrow will be a busy day. I am going to a yoga class that Moon is teaching; I get my stitches out in the afternoon; and we are going to the symphony in the evening.

I had skin cancer removed from my arm a few years ago. I need to go back soon for a recheck. My bad for not going sooner!

emoticon for sharing your Fall photos. We didn't have much color this year due to so much rain and wind. I miss it and the Fall colors make it my favorite season of the year.

Your day sounds full and fun. Glad you are healing well...……..and I love your art work. To me, art is such a personal expression. My husband can be too critical of his own work and I would give anything to be half that talented.

    Have a great week...…………... emoticon

Pray you heal well. Mom had cancer on her nose last year .She is doing well.but Doctor has her come back every 3 months to check her nose. She had something on there a few weeks ago we were concerned he froze it off & had a big scab until it fell off It came back okay.
Thanks for the history of Farewell Bend that must have been sad for some of them to throw their possessions away.
I was in the basement all morning sorting through things to take to the center. i thought I was done, but have decided to get rid of a lot more. I put too many emotions in my STUFF . I am learning to let go,but with the pioneers they did not have much in the first place.
Moon looks like a fun person to be a friend with. Sounds like a good evening as well

I love your artwork! Yesterday I took my trike out to the haven of the paved AT&T trail, down by the Trinity River... At one point I passed a big oak tree they had cut down - someone had carved out a beautiful chunk of the unblemished heartwood; if I had any talent for woodcarving I’d figure out a way to go retrieve it.
(I think if I tried my hand at art, it would be sculpture or woodcarving.)
