Peace has been on my mind a lot this week. It kept coming up in conversations and these thoughts keep repeating within me. (Warning: Long post, I needed to type it out.)

When the disciples were in the boat and in the storm, Jesus slept. He was at Peace. He was Peace, the very Prince of peace. He woke and spoke to the storm and the sea stilled. The disciples saw his Peace but I wonder if they felt it. Their minds were wrapped up and grappling with trying to understand what they had just seen. WHO is this man that even the winds and the waves obey Him? I wonder how they tried to make it all make sense. They wanted calm waters to rest in. He rested in the storm. He calmed the storm...did they rest in His peace? Were they caught up in an emotional storm of relief and wonder and not a little fear?

How many times do we ask for Peace when we really just want to feel comfortable and safe?

The Peace that He gives us brings comfort but that doesn't mean that life will be safe and comfortable.

He gives peace in situations and circumstances where peace simply DOES NOT make sense. The Bible is riddled with moments of the Lord's peace working in places that make no sense, Peace in a prison...peace in a storm...peace in a baby's cry... Peace is not merely a quiet place way from chaos and noise. Peace is His Blessed Assurance and it's only found in His presence.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
