Today is a Good Day to Have a Good Day!
That would be a good motto to start any day with, don't you think! It would be worth printing out in large letters and hanging up some place where you would see it often - on your fridge, on a mirror, by your doorway or desk, etc. My desk area is surrounded by positive posts that give me good vibes and positive feedback.
But isn't anyday worth being a good day? Consider all the blessings we have. If you have a computer, you have electricity, internet, possibly wifi. You have a home, food to eat, clothes to wear, possibly a job or a career, or some form of income to pay for all of the above. I was often taught to count my blessings not my sorrows and I'd find the blessings are greater in number. That's why I keep a gratitude journal - it's amazing the number of things there are to be grateful for.
I live in the province of Ontario in Canada and have been unable to work my entire adult life due to several medical issues. I have been supported by a disability pension that entire time. I have tried working from time to time only to have to quit due to my medical issues flaring up, but I did attempt a few times. I even tried selling Avon a few times. My point is that even myself and others who are disabled, have a way to support themselves and be independent. Every day I have a reason to have a good day.
I was really sick with Epilepsy - to the point that I was dying from it. If I didn't get help, I would not live to see my 25th birthday. My neurologist sent me to London, Ontario to the Epilepsy Unit there, and long story short, I underwent brain surgery where 1/4 of my brain was removed over a 7 hour surgery. That was in 1990. Where I used to have a minimum of 20 seizures/day, I have none now. I have had zero seizures since the surgery on March 28, 1990. So every day I have a reason to have a good day.
I could share all kinds of reasons why it is possible to have a good day. If you are able to work, you have a reason to have a good day. Go to work thankful that you can work and earn a good income. If you are a crafter, like me, be thankful for the skill and ability to make treasures and priceless gifts for people that will be cherished for years. And also the time you put into making them and, in my case, the time you think about the people you are making the items for.
This is the rose afghan I made for myself that started a whole bunch of requests for afghans.
You are awake. You have food to eat. You have a computer. You have Sparkpeople for support and encouragement. Why don't you come up with some ideas why today is going to be a good day. Is the sun shining? Do you have your coffee? Did you kiss you children or husband/wife this morning? What is your reason for today being a good day?
Other afghans I have made, thank you to my mom who taught me to crochet.
