Learning to Love Fruits and Veggies
Wednesday, December 04, 2019
Loving vegetables and fruits is not easy for everyone. I suggest you try different ones often and try them prepared differently. You may find you love frozen grapes but don’t care for them normally. Love crunchy raw broccoli but hate it overcooked. Love roasted Brussels Sprouts with garlic and rosemary, but hate them boiled.
Sometimes texture is the issue and that’s where cooking method and chopping and dicing, purée... comes in. Sometimes it is the flavor. That’s where recipes, herbs, spices, low cal dips, and creativity comes in. For recipes I love a site called cleanfoodcrush.
Smoothies are my favorite! I add fruits and veggies in that way. I’m not a fan of the greens smoothie, so I add greens powder to my smoothies.
Soups and casseroles are excellent ways to sneak in fruits and veggies too! Yes, fruits in soups and casseroles!
A good starting goal might be to add one new fruit or vegetable in each week and see what you like. Try a different cooking or prep technique each day that week with it or a new recipe.
