Is It The Season For Appliances?

Thursday, December 05, 2019

Our microwave went out.

We have many stores around us that sell microwaves, two Home Depot, a Lowes, two Best Buys, all within a 5 mile radius. None of them have an acceptable black microwave or the delivery date is two weeks away. You would think you could just walk into a store and purchase one, right? Wrong. We could not even get anyone to help us.

At Home Depot last night as we were leaving, someone had turned over all the shopping carts in the parking lot and an employee was gathering them. I said to dh, "Someone must have had the same experience we just had." He laughed.

This morning he looked online and found a Lowe's closer to his office that had two black ones in stock that were acceptable. He is going to purchase one on his way to work, and pick it up later.

Sheesh! Did Black Friday hit that hard?

We have an installer coming Monday who lives in our neighborhood and is only charging $75 to install it.

I don't cook in it, but use it for warming stuff up and occasionally baking potatoes when time is limited, etc.

I don't make remarks about our appliances. We purchased our home in 2016 and it has black appliances. They are the ones installed at the time of building. I know we are on borrowed time with them as they do not build them to last very long. I do peek when I go into our Lowes to see if black is still on the floor.
