Preparing to challenge myself to succeed in 2020

These were my goals for 2019 and they will stay the same for 2020.

1. Fighting for and then maintaining my ideal weight range
2. With a clean organized house
3. With more items checked off my bucket list
4 With energy and a great future outlook

Positive things happened in 2019. First, I continued my fight for fitness. I didn’t make the progress I’d hoped for, but am still in the game, still here and am changing it up until I find success!

In addition to getting rid of weight, I’ve been purging things that I no longer love or use. For example a crockpot went to a friend this week. A car lad of clothing was donated. Papers were shredded and recycled. I organized my quilt room!

Going to Paris has been on my bucket list for more than a decade. Mentally, it’s been a goal for at least 3 decades. Well, we finally went! I’ve got 2 additional destinations planned for 2020 and like weight loss, success begins with a vision. I encourage everyone to formalize a list of things you want to accomplish. Maybe it is a weight loss increment of 5 lbs or a wild and crazy dream like going to the moon. Just make a list and you might be surprised at what happens.

Hope, initiative, and tools along the way of a path for success are what I find in sparkpeople. Explore the site and take advantage of the features. They may be just the spark you need!

Here are the challenges I currently participate in:

5% challenge - Cloverleafs Team

The winter 2020 challenge officially begins Jan 4, but team invitations will go out In late December for a practice week. I encourage you to give this challenge a try and make an 8 week commitment. I love my Cloverleaf team and have never been on any of the other teams, but see others also return to their teams again and again, while others change it up. Whether you are trying to lose or maintain weight this is a great way to connect with others to give and find support. Give it a try?

Here is the link to the main page. Check it out and sign up and join the 5% challenge after reviewing the challenge rules, if it appeals. Invites to the private teams will be sent by sparkmail in a couple of weeks.

Life goes by so fast and if you don't plan, you won't do the things you want to do.

I, too, want to purge my home of things that aren't needed. I want to finish some projects. On my list is :redecorate the kitchen, rebuilding the chicken coop, pruning the many trees on the property; doing one day trip a month. More tennis, more biking, more hiking (especially visiting as many waterfalls as possible) and more kayaking.

I made a huge purge in 2013. Blankets, sheets, pillowcases, towels from the hall closet. Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cups, small appliances, utensils from the kitchen. Clothing from dressers and bedroom closets. Several large bags of shredded paperwork, old documents, etc. I ended up with 4 large garbage bags of clothes (just mine), 6 medium boxes from the kitchen, 4 large bags from the hall closet... mostly donated or given to family members and the rest to the dumpster. For the most part I've been able to keep things organized and to a minimum but my dresser drawers have a way of filling up and I'm always purging every couple of months. This year I shredded 3 bags worth of research that I don't use anymore. One of these days I'll get to the almost four decades (yes four decades) of taxes that need sifting through and purged.

Congrats on this year's achievements emoticon and best wishes on your goals for the upcoming year and the 5% challenge. We will make it an awesome 2020!
