The long and winding road

Saturday, July 21, 2007

It's been almost 1 year since I started with Spark People. What have I accomplished? I lost 50lbs and over 25 inches, went from a size 16 to 8/9, ran my first 5k and finished with a time of 30:23 (fifth in my age group!), got a promotion and a raise, helped several friends find Spark People and lose weight, just to name a few!! I am working on starting a Wellness Program via Sparkpeople at my company. I already have a mini-team in place. I have inspired my husband to eat healthier and quit smoking. He has been smoke free now for 1 month! In other words, I have completely changed my lifestyle and am reaping the rewards!! Particularly in mentoring and motivating positive changes in others. I love when one of my employees (friends) comes in and just bursts with joy at having lost weight, inches or succeeds at a goal of breaking a bad habit like smoking, drinking, etc.. Their joy and enthusiasm is so uplifting and satisfying. It makes me want to hug the world!! Their successes motivate me to keep traveling that long and winding road to my own goals and successes!!

Cinnybug, I saw your post on the Road Runners team, saw your profile image, the beautiful sunset and had to check out your spark page. My family and I all love Florida, too!! We have been to Orlando and Tampa. My husband want to take a long trip down into the Keys someday. We have friends who just moved to Boca Raton(sp?) We live in Minnesota and it is getting cold here!
Wow, you have really accomplished a lot in the last year!! What an inspiration!
I am currently doing the C25K program and am in week 4.
Anyway, just had to say, "HI!"
    Thanks again for the inspiration!
